"Friendly, funny and full of singing and joy! I love being a member of The Kenningtones Choir.  The sessions are fast-paced, vocally (and sometimes mentally) challenging, but always full of humour and laughter.  Cerys, our leader, is fun and supportive and we sing her innovative arrangements of popular songs from a range of genres.  The Kenningtones Choir is a great place to be on a Wednesday evening."
Jo Salter, member since 2011.

Our Story

The Kenningtones grew out of 'A Choir of our Time',  an exciting project that brought together community choirs from Lambeth and Southwark. They formed a massed choir for a  performance of Sir Michael Tippett's 'A Child Of Our Time' at the Royal Festival Hall, back in 2013.

Since then, the choir has found a permanent home at Morley College London and has been led by several Directors,. Under the inspirational Cerys Hogg, the choir has developed a new direction and a new repertoire, with the focus on having a good time and enjoying singing together.

The Choir today

The Kenningtones is going from strength to strength! With a flexible membership of around 25-30 singers, the choir perform at a variety of community events and sings a diverse range of popular music, including soul, funk and disco, all sung in a style that suits the music's particular vibe.

There is a wide range of background, ability and experience but the joy of singing binds this group together under. Ideal for singers wishing to explore a variety of music styles and improve their ensemble performing skills.

Cerys Hogg is a composer,  improvising vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and artist.

As our Musical Director, arranger and accompanist, Cerys uses her many skills as educator and musician to give The Kenningtones its groovy and energetic vibe and to get the most out of us in an inclusive and enjoyable way.
